This site presents a collection of studies developed during my PhD research at the University of Limerick, exploring the integration of algorithmic music and visual music. Each study is built in Max/MSP as an evolving real-time patch and captured as it unfolds.

Focusing on techniques for synchronising sound and image across sensory modalities, these works investigate how live algorithmic audio-visual systems can evoke a sense of presence by leveraging both contemporary and historical technologies. Here, “presence” describes a direct, embodied, and sensory mode of engagement—where immediate perception can become more valuable than symbolic interpretation, especially within abstract or imaginal environments.
